Singapore women entrepreneurs shine at ASEAN Women Entrepreneur Network Awards 2022

Five women entrepreneurs across different sectors in Singapore received the ASEAN Women Entrepreneur Network (AWEN) Awards today. AWEN is a network of businesswomen in ASEAN and it aims to provide women business leaders and entrepreneurs in ASEAN a platform to exchange knowledge and experience, network and promote initiatives to support women-led enterprises in the region.

The AWEN Awards provide recognition of the significant contributions made by women entrepreneurs in ASEAN member states, to both their industries and in advancing the participation of women in all levels of economic activity. This year’s ceremony was held in Jakarta, Indonesia and attended by national representatives of the ASEAN member states’ women entrepreneurs networks and nominees of the AWEN Award 2022 from the various ASEAN member states. The Singapore delegation was led by Ms Irene Boey, EXCO member of the Singapore Women Entrepreneurs Network (SG-WEN) and AWEN Singapore Chairperson.

Singapore’s award winners come from diverse backgrounds and sectors. They have proven themselves to be visionary leaders, agents of change who have broken new ground or traditional barriers, and made a difference in the advancement of women in economic activities. The five Singapore winners are: Ms Sharon Wong, Founder and CEO, MothersWork Pte Ltd; Ms Samsiah Suliman, CEO, Jumain Sataysfaction Pte Ltd; Ms Ninalyn Arciaga Sulit-Cacananta, Founder & CEO of HFSE International School Pte Ltd ; Ms Jessie Chen, Managing Director, Advance Chemical Treatment Pte Ltd and Rexadvance Technology Pte Ltd, and Ms Jamie Tan, Director of Flying Cape Pte Ltd.

SG-WEN is Singapore’s official representative at AWEN. Ms Rachel Eng, Chairman of SG-WEN said, “We are delighted to be supporting our women entrepreneurs at this significant platform on a regional-level. Singaporean women entrepreneurs are making waves in all sectors of our economy and we are glad that they are receiving recognition for their achievements. SG-WEN will continue advancing Singapore’s interests at AWEN to help Singapore women entrepreneurs expand into the region through knowledge sharing and networking.”

This strong showing of five award winners from Singapore at the AWEN Awards this year is supported by SG-WEN, which was established by the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) in September 2021.

SG-WEN focuses on supporting women entrepreneurs in four key areas: championing women business issues through engagements with senior government officials as well as data-driven advocacy through surveys; knowledge sharing through fireside chats and networking events to spur business transformation and growth; promoting collaboration with other women groups in Singapore, including the women groups of trade associations and chambers, and networking with AWEN and other overseas groups; as well as recognising women entrepreneurs for their achievements and successes.

For the AWEN Awards 2022, SG-WEN reviewed nominees selected from a wide range of Singaporean women entrepreneurs of innovative businesses, both big and small, which have made a significant difference and contribution to society and the economy.
