SBF NBS Survey Reveals Drop in Business Sentiment as Businesses Face Rising Costs and Liquidity Challenges

SBF's latest National Business Survey (NBS) 2025 Singapore Budget Edition released on 28 May reported that local business sentiment saw a significant decline, with 40% of firms anticipating a worsening economic outlook—nearly doubling from 22% in the previous quarter. Key concerns included rising operational costs—especially in real estate and hospitality—and ongoing liquidity pressures. Despite these headwinds, many businesses remain committed to transformation, with a strong focus on AI adoption and internationalisation.

SBF CEO Kok Ping Soon said, "It is important that businesses stay the course in enterprise and workforce transformation by leveraging the slew of government support,” and called for closer collaboration between the government, financial institutions, and the business community to sustain momentum. Click here to view the NBS infographic.
