In 2023, 760 Singapore companies joined 70 business explorations, and 1,700 participated in 90 international exhibitions. The Singapore government is also encouraging companies to pursue global business opportunities through collaborative efforts. The Director of International Business Division at SBF, Mr Ray Kwan, said that entering India requires a nuanced approach, including a physical presence, local partnerships, and tailored market strategies, leveraging digital platforms.
Jointly organised by The Business Times and KPMG in Singapore, sponsored by OCBC, and supported by SBF, Enterprise Singapore and SGX Group, more than 800 business leaders and VIPs attended the 29th E50 Awards held at Raffles City Convention Centre on 21 November, celebrating Singapore's top 50 private companies, honouring their resilience in a challenging business landscape. The guest of honour, Minister for Education Chan Chun Sing, commended the winners for excelling in adversity.
China and Singapore's upgraded free-trade agreement, recently announced by the Ministry of Commerce, aims to instill more business-friendly and transparent regulations, fortifying bilateral trade and investment ties. SBF CEO Kok Ping Soon highlighted the substantial promise this renewed framework holds for Singapore companies, citing China's vibrant consumer market and its rapid shift towards high-quality economic growth. He advocated for collaborative efforts between Singapore and China to navigate global economic uncertainties and utilise opportunities in sustainable development and digital innovation.
The Indonesian Ministry of Investment is actively managing Singapore investors' perceptions for the 2024 political landscape. Efforts aim to maintain confidence during leadership changes, with plans to showcase investment potential at the 2024 Indonesian Investment Outlook in Singapore. The establishment of the Singapore Enterprise Centre (SEC) @ Jakarta in Indonesia by SBF at the support of Enterprise Singapore, reflects Singapore's commitment through significant investments and informs businesses interested in Indonesia's business potential.
