Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong underscored the importance of business-friendly regulations that support the growth of businesses on both local and global fronts, at the 11th Pro-Enterprise Panel-Singapore Business Federation (PEP-SBF) Awards 2023 held on 29 November. He urged increased collaboration between government and businesses to maintain Singapore's status as a leading business destination. SBF Chairman Lim Ming Yan delivered the welcome remarks and emphasised the need for strategic regulatory frameworks supporting fair competition, consumer protection, and market stability.
Speaking in Parliament on 22 November, NMP and SBF Council Member Neil Parekh emphasised the continuous commitment to enhance societal well-being through the ongoing refinement of laws, and underscored that the amendments aim to reinforce the role and operations of licensed moneylenders. He also drew attention to the potential impact and challenges faced by both businesses and borrowers.
On its 10th anniversary, SBF Foundation (SBFF) revealed new initiatives to advance corporate purpose and philanthropy. The event, inclusive of a dialogue with Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, emphasised the significant role of Singapore's business community in societal resilience.
