ESG Coordination Office

About SBF's Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Coordination Office

The Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Coordination Office is a new unit set up by SBF to support the business community in understanding ESG issues and priorities, adopting ESG best practices for value creation towards purposeful and successful businesses, and harnessing ESG opportunities in partnership with private and public sector stakeholders.

Fostering Socially-Impactful Businesses through Corporate Purpose

In collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Community & Youth (MCCY), the ESGCO will work with the Company of Good (COG) initiative at the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) to mobilise the business community to adopt the corporate purpose framework. This framework articulates principles, practices, and indicators guiding corporate action across five impact areas – People, Society, Governance, Environment and Economic, and positions the Company of Good (COG) as a national recognition of businesses in their corporate purpose journey.

NVPC's Company of Good

In collaboration with MCCY, the ESGCO will work with NVPC to mobilise the business community to be part of the Company of Good Community and to adopt corporate purpose at the core of their business.

The Company of Good Recognition System aims to recognise organisations in Singapore as Companies of Good at the national level for their commitment to corporate purpose and impact in the People, Society, Governance, Environment and Economic dimensions.

With real-world business relevance in mind, the enhanced system is designed to be inclusive, in recognising and encouraging companies that are starting on their journey, and progressive, in celebrating companies that have demonstrated growing commitment and made tangible impact

The Company of Good Recognition System was designed in consultation with academic experts and industry practitioners—such as the Singapore Business Federation, National Council of Social Service (NCSS), Singapore Institute of Directors (SID), Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF) and UN Global Compact Network Singapore (UN GCNS)—in harmony with local and global standards, marks and awards, to bring about the necessary coordination and integration for organisations to be recognised for their holistic contributions.
