Singapore business community welcomes PM Wong with a dialogue on Singapore’s economic future
The Singapore Business Federation (SBF) hosted Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at a welcome lunch and fireside chat with the business community earlier today.
The Prime Minister has been a strong supporter of the business community over the years. As Minister for Finance since 2021, PM Wong has introduced bold and comprehensive Budget measures to drive economic growth, including initiatives to alleviate cost pressures for businesses and support them in areas like digitalisation and sustainability.
The discussion, which was moderated by Lim Ming Yan, Chairman of SBF, covered areas such as sustaining the next phase of Singapore’s economic growth; navigating geopolitical dynamics and rising protectionism while maintaining our business competitiveness; and fostering a dynamic business environment for both local and foreign businesses to thrive.
The dialogue was attended by over 100 participants, including business leaders from SBF and other Trade Associations and Chambers (TACs). The exchanges were frank and insightful, providing a stronger platform for further engagements between the business community and the Government.
Said SBF Chairman Mr Lim, “We live in unprecedented times, marked by global economic shifts, an increasingly competitive business environment, and significant societal and demographic changes. These developments present both challenges and opportunities for businesses and governments alike. We hope today’s event facilitated a candid conversation on how businesses can partner the government to navigate the complexities of today and co-create a conducive environment for economic resilience, innovation, and sustainability.”
