More Singapore companies participate at 19th CAEXPO
Monday, 19 September 2022 [Singapore] - Singapore companies continue to be optimistic about business opportunities in China. This year, the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) led 53 companies and six trade associations and chambers (TACs) to take part in the 19th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO), which is held in a hybrid format, in Nanning, Guangxi, China from 16 to 19 September 2022.
The theme of the 19th CAEXPO is “Sharing RCEP New Opportunities, Building a Version 3.0 China-ASEAN Free Trade Area” (共享RCEP新机遇，助推中国—东盟自由贸易区3.0版). About 44% of participating Singapore companies also took part in CAEXPO last year. SBF, with the support of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, has been spearheading the participation of Singapore companies at this trade show since 2006.

The Singapore Pavilion at CAEXPO, comprising the Singapore National Pavilion and the Singapore Commodity Trade Pavilion, adopted the theme “Singapore-China: Expanding Network, Empowering Business Collaboration” (星耀万里 商满寰中) to showcase Singapore’s role as a connectivity hub and highlight the need for greater cooperation between China and ASEAN.
Occupying a total of 396 sqm, the Singapore Pavilion featured our four flagship Government-to-Government and state level projects – Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City, China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park, China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity, and China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City. In addition, 33 Singapore companies from the logistics, real estate and financial services sectors also showcased their products and services under the Singapore National Pavilion.
The Singapore Commodity Trade Pavilion showcased leading Singapore companies from the F&B, retail and services industries that already have presence in China or are keen to venture into the Chinese market. CAEXPO offers these companies a platform to strengthen their presence and connect with new partners in China and ASEAN.
On 16 September 2022, Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat delivered the opening remarks virtually at the Opening Ceremony of the 19th CAEXPO and 19th China-ASEAN Business Investment Summit (CABIS), together with esteemed speakers such as Mr Han Zheng, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council and Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Prime Minister of Malaysia.
On 17 September 2022, SBF also organised the Singapore Day Seminar as part of CAEXPO to deepen the economic, trade and investment cooperation between Singapore and China, and help businesses from China and ASEAN countries better understand Singapore’s business prospects and environment. This year’s seminar is held virtually to cater to exhibitors and trade visitors who are unable to be physically present. The seminar included speakers from the Singapore Economic Development Board, Enterprise Singapore, China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City, Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city and Singapore International Arbitration Centre.
Mr Lam Yi Young, Chief Executive Officer, SBF said, “China continues to be an important market for Singapore companies, and SBF is glad to facilitate the participation of a larger number of companies at CAEXPO this year. As businesses continue to look to internationalisation for business growth, participation in platforms like CAEXPO helps them to connect with and forge new collaborations with overseas partners.”
