Launch of the Smart Growth Connect (SGConnect)

This year’s event will also see the launch of the Smart Growth Connect (SGConnect), ASEAN-BAC’s fifth legacy project. To enhance ASEAN economic integration, ASEAN-BAC rolls out at least one legacy project each year.

SGConnect aims to foster and support the successful urbanisation in ASEAN, by developing a modern supply chain to enable a highly efficient flow of goods to drive city consumption and enable cities to grow without growing pains.

This legacy project hopes to result in smart, symbiotic and sustainable growth for inclusive progress and prosperity across this heterogeneous region.

Dato Seri Dr Douglas Foo, Organising Chairman of ABIS, said, “ABIS is the definitive summit that allows the ASEAN business community to gather, network and share their insights with each other to further their business goals. It is a meeting of old friends and a place to meet new ones. The two-day summit aims to showcase the business and investment opportunities and potential in the various sectors of ASEAN.”

Mr Ho Meng Kit, CEO, Singapore Business Federation, said, “ASEAN is a key focus region for Singapore companies, with 71% operating in at least one ASEAN country. As a region, ASEAN has been growing strength to strength, with growth expected to average 5.2% till 2020. To help the region continually attract investment inflows, there needs to be increased integration and liberalisation. Through ABIS, we want to provide a conducive platform for policymakers and business leaders alike to deepen connections and conversations that will bring about stronger economic benefits for ASEAN.”

ASEAN BUSINESS AWARDS 2018
