Boost Up Initiative
Reducing cost, increasing revenue, and generating demand have been identified as some of the top priorities of companies in Singapore Business Federation (SBF)'s National Business Survey, conducted annually since 2010. These factors as well as improvements to productivity will ensure better profitability for companies. In order to achieve next-level strategic and sustainable growth, companies must also seize new opportunities.
The strategies to attain growth may differ from company to company depending on the industry, target market and areas of focus. To truly succeed in a competitive market, it is prudent to have a tangible long-term business growth strategy in place. SBF has launched the Boost Up initiative in January 2022, partnering with the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), DesignSingapore Council (DSG), IPI, Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS), Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) and Procter & Gamble (P&G) to support the business community in leveraging brand, product and service as growth strategies.
Boost Up focuses on frameworks and tools that will unlock new areas of growth for companies. These include developing solutions based on an in-depth understanding of customers’ needs, or a roadmap that could help identify and address gaps to successfully develop a product, service or brand. Boost Up will zoom in on two primary growth engines:
- Product/Service Redesign
- Brand Positioning & Marketing
Companies will be provided with step-by-step guidance to develop customised strategies and plans that can be implemented to meet their needs. Companies can access the tools offered by our partners for actual implementation through guided projects.
Companies that are facing the following challenges should consider signing up for “Boost Up”:
- Seeking growth but do not know where to start
- Looking to reinvent their product but do not know how to go about it
- Looking to launch a new brand or rebrand their business and need support
For product/service redesign, if you desire to improve existing or create new product or service, you will be assisted through the development of a system or roadmap to identify the necessary capabilities, resources, and technologies to accelerate product development.
For brand positioning & marketing, if you have a new or existing product aspiring to grow in brand recognition and market share, you will be assisted through workshops that aim to help you develop a brand that can be associated with your target segment. There will also be resources available to get you familiar with the latest marketing tools.
Boost Up aims to provide support in these areas throughout companies’ journey in achieving growth. Boost Up can help put your plans into action. Companies from any sector are welcome to participate in this initiative.
Step 1: Boost Up Sharing Session (Complimentary)
To find out if Boost Up is suitable to meet your business needs, join us for a complimentary sharing session by speakers from DSG, NYP and more that will share with you on the resources and tools available. Learn from companies that have successfully leveraged product/service and brand for growth through an intimate dialogue on 22 February 2022.
Step 2: Boost Up Formula (Complimentary)
Our partners will be providing a series of complimentary workshops under three themes – Design Thinking & Consumer Understanding; Product Service Redesign; and Brand Positioning & Marketing.
Participants can choose to go through the whole journey by attending workshops under all three themes or sign up for workshops under the theme that is most relevant to their business needs.

Step 3: Implementation (Chargeable)
For companies that want to explore customised programmes that meet their specific needs, they may choose to sign up for the programmes offered by our partners. Complimentary one-to-one consultation with the consultants/programme providers will be provided prior to the start of the programmes.
SBF will also support companies during the implementation phase to help them achieve their desired objectives.

Workshop Theme 1:
Design Thinking & Consumer Understanding
Participants will learn how companies could use design thinking to understand the consumer journey and work on generating ideas to value add the customer experience.
Recommended: For those starting their growth journey.
Workshop Theme 2:
Participants will discover the various stages of process thinking when modifying an existing product or creating a new product. This process will help businesses validate if their product modifications will result in commercial success in the market.
Recommended: For those looking to reinvent their product and explore available options for product development.
Workshop Theme 3:
Brand Positioning & Marketing
Participants will gain insights into the importance of brand strategy and having a marketing plan as well as learn fundamental skills and knowledge to develop an event branding campaign by leveraging social media marketing.
Recommended: For those who require a brand strategy for their new product or are looking to reinvent their brand to stay relevant.
Participants can choose to go through the whole journey by selecting one workshop from each theme or sign up immediately to the theme they need guidance on.
There are limited slots available for each workshop and the slots will be allocated on a first-come-first-serve basis. Priority will be given to attendees of the Boost Up Sharing Session and SBF members. Join the Boost Up Sharing Session to find out how to register for the workshops!
These workshops are provided complimentary by our partners in support of the Singapore business community. SBF reserves the right to charge the full amount of the workshop’s fees to participants in the event of a no-show. A confirmed participant is required to notify SBF and provide a replacement at least 48 hours prior to the workshop commencement date if he/she is unable to attend the workshop.
A*STAR Collaborative Commerce Marketplace (ACCM) is a one-stop collaborative online portal that facilitates business matching, partnership, tech innovation and business collaborations amongst platform members, especially SMEs. Key features include Partner Search, which facilitates co-innovation, joint ventures and technology licensing; and Events Listing, which allows members to leverage on ACCM’s membership base to boost their event turn-out rates and to join events to deepen and widen their industry knowledge, as well as to network with like-minded professionals. This platform is available under Boost Up and you may sign up as a member here.
When ready to proceed with the implementation of their growth strategy, participants will be given options for the next steps based on what they want to achieve. Participants will be able to gain access to free one-to-one consultation with consultants/ programme providers prior to embarking on the programmes offered. The one-to-one consultation is specially provided by our partners to understand the needs of the participants and ensure the programme can address the participants’ needs. SBF will continue to provide support to participants during their implementation to ensure that the programme is able to drive the desired outcome.
