Manager or Assistant Manager, Research & Publishing

In view of SBF’s continuing effort in enhancing its support for businesses and facilitating the growth of the business community, the role of research is key in the provision of timely and deep sensing studies that shed meaningful insights on the overall Singapore business environment and issues that matter to the business community.

An integral part of the candidate’s responsibilities includes primary research through the conduct of company visits, focus group discussions, one-on-one interviews and other forms of engagements. He/she is also expected to write and produce case studies, topical deep-dive research reports, country infographics, short video features and other forms of in-depth market studies, amongst others.

Job Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage the conduct of research in different geographical markets, industries, and across a broad range of issues related to internationalisation, business transformation and digitalisation. These would include, but not limited to, the writing and production of case studies, topical deep-dive research reports, country infographics, short video features and other forms of in-depth market studies.
  • Manage databases that provide reliable, relevant and timely data. Gather and compile data and statistics from one or more sources in the conduct of research to derive insights.
  • Charting of trends and tracking of indicators across markets.
  • Facilitating collaboration with government agencies, think-tanks, trade associations, business chambers and the business community at large.
  • Conducting workshops and focus group discussions to gather feedback to understand and identify the needs, concerns and future plans of businesses. This includes work closely with respective business units to understand and distil key areas of business concerns.
  • Presentation of findings to internal and external stakeholders at relevant platforms.
  • Handle any other responsibilities and duties that may be assigned to you by SBF from time to time.

Job Requirements

  • Background in Economics, Statistics, Business or a relevant discipline.
  • 4-6 years of work experience. Prior experience in research, in the private or public sector, will be an advantage.
  • Strong inclination for writing and research, with a keen interest in conducting outreach and engagement.
  • Ability to present research and data findings in an easily understandable format that appeals to the business community.
  • Proficient in organising, facilitating and leading focus group discussions and one-on-one in-depth interviews.
  • Knowledge in the use of any of the following data science tools would be looked upon favourably: SPSS, Power BI, Tableau, R, SPSS and Python.
  • Strong display of a ‘can-do’ attitude, a self-starter, an effective team player, possess a strong sense of project ownership, ability to handle multiple tasks and projects.
  • Proactive and possess the drive and resourcefulness to work independently.
  • Strong written and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and reach out to external stakeholders and businesses at various levels.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to bring various parties together to achieve results.
