Launch Date of "Shortening of the Extension of Time" Initiative
|
|
The Accounting and Corporate Regulatory (ACRA), regulator of companies and custodian of the corporate registers would like to inform that the launch date of the "Shortening of the Extension of Time" initiative is scheduled on 9 September 2010.
A company must hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) within the time stipulated in the Companies Act. Currently, companies can apply for extension of time of up to 3 months to hold their AGM. With the implementation of the initiative, the maximum extension period allowed for a company to hold its AGM and lay its financial statement at its AGM will be reduced from 3 to 2 months.
This will help to ensure that financial statements that are eventually filed are not outdated and that companies make early arrangement to have their financial statements done and their AGM held more promptly. More information on the Application Extension of Time under the new initiative will be available on ACRA website from 9 September 2010: http://www.acra.gov.sg/Compliance/Application_for_Extension/
For enquiries, you may use ACRA’s interactive web service, ASK ACRA, at www.acra.gov.sg/enquiry or call their helpdesk at 62486028.
