Developing strong HRM capabilities for SMEs success
SNEF HR ADVISORY SERVICES
Businesses are facing growing HR-related challenges. Aside from the manpower crunch, higher cost of foreign labour and issues pertaining to low productivity, companies need to gear up for the Retirement & Re-employment Act which comes into force on 1 January 2012.
SNEF offers a free HR advisory service helpdesk in areas such as employment legislation, contract, salary and termination issues, disciplinary cases and performance management/appraisal, amongst others. The service is targeted at Singapore-based SMEs with an employment size of up to 200 employees.
To find out more, please call 6221 2334 (Mondays to Fridays, 9.00am to 5.30pm), or email smehr@snef.org.sg
HR CAPABILITY TOOLKIT
SMEs wishing to improve and strengthen their Human Resource (HR) management capabilities can now look to the HR Capability Toolkit, jointly developed by SPRING Singapore and the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA). The Toolkit, which aims to help SMEs address HR gaps and promote better HR practices, can be downloaded free from the SNEF website by clicking on this link. Alternatively, email SNEF at smecoms@snef.org.sg to obtain a copy of the HR Capability Toolkit CD-rom.
The HR Capability Toolkit provides the framework, guidelines, tools and templates to help SMEs systematically manage HR functions in the areas of manpower planning, recruitment and selection, compensation and benefits, performance management, learning and development and career management.
HR CAPABILITY PROGRAMME (in-company consultancy)
SMEs requiring specific HR guidance in relation to the HR Capability Toolkit may consult SNEF about the HR Capability Programme, which provides consultancy support in the implementation of a structured HR management system. PMC-certified in-house consultants or associate consultants from SNEF will be assigned to provide in-company consultancy. SPRING Singapore funds 50% of the consultancy cost for eligible SMEs.
