Singapore, Thursday, 20 August 2009 - The Singapore Business Federation (SBF) and the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS) today inked an MOU of collaboration to facilitate commercialization and adoption of clean energy and energy efficient solutions and opportunities among Singapore companies and businesses.
The MOU calls for both parties to jointly collaborate to promote energy-related initiatives and programs for the benefit of key stakeholders.
The terms of reference are that:
- where an event, initiative or program is of a national agenda and spans multi-industries and sectors, such as eco-city, green IT, waste management & recycling, sustainable water solutions, SBF will lead the initiative with support from SEAS.
- where an event, initiative or program falls within the specific industry verticals of SEAS in renewable energy and energy efficiency, SEAS will lead the initiative with support from SBF.
Pursuant to the signing of the MOU, SBF will rename its Clean Energy Business Group (CEBG) as Sustainable Development Business Group (SDBG). The name change is to reflect the increasing needs and focus of businesses not just in the area of clean energy but also in other energy efficient and sustainable solutions and opportunities. It enables the Group to reach out to an even wider range of industries and businesses, as well as encompass all areas in and/or related to sustainable development.
SBF's CEO, Mr. Teng Theng Dar said "The MOU aims to promote the adoption and commercialization of clean energy and energy efficiency initiatives and solutions amongst Singapore companies. Together with SEAS, SBF will facilitate joint events, training workshops, business missions, networking as well as targeted business matching sessions to enable Singapore-based companies to benefit from this collaboration."
Mr. Edwin Khew, Chairman of SEAS said "This initiative is timely and necessary to ensure clarity in the market place and the clean tech industry sector on the roles of SBF and SEAS. Moving forward, SEAS will continue to develop, with the support and in partnership with the government, Singapore into a regional centre for clean energy and energy efficiency technologies and solutions. With this MOU, SEAS will support and partner SBF in promoting sustainable energy in industries, commerce and homes."
