- Company representatives attend briefing to be acquainted with SBF membership benefits

Singapore, Tuesday, 5 May 2009 - Two hundred and sixty-eight new Singapore Business Federation (SBF) members recently attended an informative orientation briefing session on the federation's services and programs as well as information updates by SPRING Singapore and the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).

SBF CEO Mr. Teng Theng Dar gave members the background on SBF's formation and the role the federation plays in the business community.

"SBF is extending its reach and more members are participating in our activities. Last year, SBF organised 275 activities, attracting more than 29,000 member participants. We seek to create an environment where companies can thrive and grow. We continue to proactively engage the business community to build an apex business chamber that represents and champions their collective interests at home and abroad. In just over seven years, many countries and business communities overseas have come to recognize SBF as the Apex business chamber of Singapore, and is their first point of contact. We will continue to strengthen and leverage our global links to develop strong and long-lasting business relationships with companies, business chambers and government agencies to the mutual benefit of all," he concluded.

Elaborating more on SBF's services and programs for members was SBF Director, Corporate Communications, Mr. Gerald De Cotta. He explained the federation's mission and vision, and the role and activities of various SBF groups - Capacity Building Group, Global Business Group and Member Relations and Services Group - to the senior management personnel present.

Senior Director Ms. Rita King and Deputy Director Mr. Brian Heng of SBF's Capacity Building Group, and SPRING Singapore's Mr. Samuel Neo, Senior Manager, Strategic Partnerships, familiarized members with the EnterpriseOne Business Information Services (EBIS) products and services.

Summing up the Orientation during the last segment were MOM speakers Ms. Anita Ng, Senior Assistant Director, Industrial Relations, and Mr. Lau Weng Hong, Deputy Director, Labour Relations. They provided guidelines on implementing flexible and performance-based wage system in the last segment of the Orientation.
