Singapore 28 January 2009 - The Singapore Business Federation (SBF), Singapore's apex business chamber, and the Singapore Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China (SingCham) today inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to facilitate business exchanges, information sharing and form a strategic partnership to promote cooperation through joint initiatives for the benefit of members of both chambers.

Mr. Teng Theng Dar, CEO of SBF, and Ms. Dorothy Seet Poh Kim, Chairman of SingCham signed the MOU at SBF, witnessed by BG Chin Siat Yoon, Singapor's Ambassador to China. SBF and SingCham see mutual benefits of collaboration in many areas, including the regular exchange of available information and publications on new economic policies and regulations, business opportunities, market intelligence and other investment and economic related activities in China and Singapore.

SBF and SingCham agreed to assist in organizing bilateral economic events such as trade missions, business visits, seminars, forums, briefing sessions or talks. There will also be regular exchange of information on business and investment proposals by members of both chambers.

Prior to the MOU signing, Mr Teng shared with his counterparts during the meeting about SBF's role as an apex business chamber; and how it would help its members in the current economic crisis and some of its key initiatives, including the inauguration of a China Business Group for all corporations, companies and individuals interested in developing their business in China or Singapore.

Mr Teng welcomed SingCham and other trade and business associations to be SBF's local and foreign strategic partners. He expressed confidence that SBF members will benefit from SingCham's nearly 1,000 members' rich local knowledge of China.

One of the immediate benefits is that SingCham and SBF members will enjoy member rates for all events organized by either chamber.
