  • Enabling companies to gain from business and technology partnership opportunities, technical support and funding

  • Singapore, Tuesday, 20 January 2009 - The Singapore Business Federation (SBF) and Temasek Polytechnic (TP) today inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a Clean Energy Test-bedding Community (CETC) to encourage the development and adoption of Clean Energy technologies and solutions among businesses here.

The MOU was signed by SBF CEO, Mr. Teng Theng Dar and TP Principal & CEO Mr. Boo Kheng Hua in the presence of some 180 members of the local business community.

MOU aims to spur development and adoption of Clean Energy technologies and solutions

A joint initiative of SBF and TP and supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board, CETC will be the platform where companies can source for potential partners, projects and funding for business and technological cooperation to test bed and pilot fuel cell, solar energy and other clean energy technologies and applications for adoption. It aims to serve as an information hub to increase the awareness of clean energy and help businesses benefit from clean energy solutions, including saving on power and energy costs.

This initiative will complement both organizations' current green efforts in the areas of Clean Technology. SBF recently set up the SBF Clean Energy Business Group (CEBG), a Clean Energy interest group that serves as a business platform for technology partners, schemes, initiatives and business leads in the Clean Energy industry. From 2007, TP has hosted the Singapore Fuel Cell community (FCC), an EDB initiative, which aims to develop a vibrant community of technopreneurs, start-ups and partners that will innovate marketable Fuel Cell and Clean Energy products.

"Green business is about achieving sustainable economic growth. SBF is pleased to present our clean energy and sustainable development programs to our members as well as the Singapore business community to generate not only awareness and information, but also to serve as an enabling platform to facilitate, promote and support green business opportunities," Mr Teng Theng Dar, SBF CEO, said,

Mr Boo Kheng Hua, TP Principal and CEO, said, "By tapping on the technical expertise of Temasek Polytechnic and the industry partners and developers in the Fuel Cell Community, more commercially viable clean and green solutions catering to the various industries, could be developed. I am delighted that Temasek Polytechnic will be able to take such initiatives further by collaborating with SBF to set up the Clean Energy Testbedding Community. This will enable both our institutions to enjoy enormous economies of scale and synergy by joining hands towards a common purpose."

Developments and Opportuities in Clean Energy

After the signing of the MOU, members were treated to an informative series of talks on developments and opportunities in the Clean Energy sector. Various industry experts and corporate heads showcased their business strategies and expertise in this area:
