Sustainability is becoming increasingly a business imperative for global businesses. It is emerging as a market driver with potential to grow profits and present opportunities for value creation – a dramatic evolution from its traditional focus on efficiency, cost, corporate social responsibility, compliance and risk management. Leading companies are now focusing on developing solutions, collaborating with stakeholders and other businesses and working with governments to ensure there are right drivers and incentives to encourage innovation and jobs.
Sustainability, together with other megatrends such as demographic change, urbanization and globalization, are not only influencing the way we live today, but their impact will increase substantially in the decades to come. By identifying such market specific forward-looking trends and drawing the strategic consequences, a company will be able to bundle its business activities into areas which can demonstrate high potential of business growth and offer attractive investment opportunity for local and foreign investors.
The Asia Pacific Sustainability Leadership Forum, running in conjunction with Global Entrepolis@Singapore 2011 and supported by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and Global Cleantech Cluster Association (GCCA), brings together top business, industry and government leaders around the world to discuss the latest opportunities and trends of sustainability as a business imperative.
