The Government recently announced that it intends to introduce a general data protection law to protect consumers’ personal data against misuse. The proposed law will regulate how businesses collect, use, disclose and retain consumer personal data, and prohibit the unauthorised use and disclosure of such data.
To explain the proposed framework and clarify any queries that businesses may have; the Ministry of Information, Communication and the Arts (MICA) is conducting a sharing session for SBF members. The consultation documents can be accessed HERE. As the intended law will potentially impact all sectors, members are encouraged to attend this session to share your feedback and seek any clarifications.
