The Korea-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (KSFTA), the 1st comprehensive bilateral FTA which Republic of Korea (ROK) concluded with an Asian country entered into force on 2 March 2006; and the ASEAN-Korea Free Trade Agreement (AKFTA) entered into force on 1 July 2006.

Through KSFTA, Korea substantively removed tariffs on most of Singapore's exports into Korea. Singapore's domestic exports to Korea enjoy an immediate tariff elimination which provides them a cost advantage and first mover advantage into the Korea's market. Intra-company trade between the Korea and Singapore will thus receive a boost from the KSFTA. The AKFTA will continue to strengthen and deepen economic integration and help to build capacity through sharing of available resources and expertise. It is also expected to facilitate greater flow of ROK investments into ASEAN.

Besides covering trade in goods, this Seminar will also focus on trade in services and investment opportunities, The participants will also be briefed on the practical issues regarding doing business with Korea and how to make minefield into a goldmine. Companies which have investments in Singapore, other ASEAN countries and Korea or plan to venture into Korea are encouraged to attend this seminar to learn how to capitalize on KSFTA and AKFTA to expand your businesses to Korea and ASEAN.
