The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) will be amending the Employment Agency Regulatory Framework to enhance the regulatory framework for employment agencies. These changes will also affect employers who are hiring worker through employment agencies.
In 2010, the Economic Strategies Committee (ESC) recommended that foreign worker levies be progressively raised to incentivise companies to invest in improving productivity and to ensure that Singapore's dependence on foreign workforce remain at about one-third of our total workforce. In line with this recommendation, the Ministry of Manpower has announced a series of changes to the foreign worker levy structure at Budget 2010, and further refinements to these changes at today’s announcement at Budget 2011.
The Ministry of Manpower would also be introducing other changes to foreign manpower policies this year.
The Singapore Business Federation (SBF) and the Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF) have invited Mr Then Yee Thoong, Divisional Director, Work Pass Division of the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) to share the details of these changes with our members at the briefing.
There will also be a Q & A session, where participants can seek clarification on the policy and operational issues that may impact businesses or industries.
SBF Members are urged to attend this important briefing!
