Synopsis

Sustainable Manufacturing has been defined as the creation of manufactured products that use processes which are non-polluting, conserve energy and natural resources, and are economically sound and safe for employees, communities and consumers.

According to a recent study by Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech), Singapore’s sustainable manufacturing effort has been largely focused on energy efficiency, carbon footprint and recycling & manufacturing. The various assistance schemes like the Energy Efficiency Assistance Schemes and Certified Energy Manager Training Grant have been assisting Singapore companies which are sustainable manufacturers. The response from the industry has been highly positive. Companies like: 3M, GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer Asia Pacific and Shell Eastern Petroleum are among the 49 companies that become the founder partners of the Energy Efficiency National Partnership (EENP), which help to implement energy productivity projects within the companies.

The aim of the CEOs Roundtable on Sustainability Solutions for Manufacturing Sector is to encourage CEOs and corporate leaders to explore, strategic challenges faced by organizations in sustainable manufacturing in Asia and globally as well as emerging trends, risks and opportunities.
