The recently released Economic Strategies Committee (ESC) report has emphasised the need for Singapore to manage its foreign worker dependence. While recognising that foreign workers will continue to be necessary for our economic growth, the report also highlighted that there is a limit to the number of foreign workers Singapore can have, and other implications associated with having a large number of foreign workers. ESC has recommended the use of a price mechanism to moderate the growth of the foreign workforce.
The Government has accepted the ESC recommendation and has announced changes to the foreign worker levy structure. The Singapore Business Federation (SBF) and the Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF) have invited Mr Then Yee Thoong, Divisional Director, Work Pass Division of the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) to share the details of these changes with our members at the briefing.
There will also be a Q & A session, where participants can seek clarification on the policy and operational issues that impact their businesses or industries.
