The Singapore Business Federation (SBF) is pleased to co-organised the coming 2nd Egypt Day in Singapore: "Resurrecting the Silk Road" together with CI Capital Holding and DBS Bank. We are most honored to have H.E. Mahmoud Mohieldin, Minister of Investment, Arab Republic of Egypt and Mr. Maged Shawky, Chairman, The Egyptian Stock Exchange as the Guests of Honor for the investment seminar.
The objective of this event is to provide the economic, political and social background of Egypt, business opportunities and connection with elite Egyptian businessmen.
ABOUT EGYPT
Egypt is a country in North Africa bordered to the north by the Mediterranean, to the south by Sudan, to the west by Libya, and to the east by the Red Sea and Israel. Egypt's economy is the second largest in the Arab world after Saudi Arabia and is widely regarded as an important political and cultural nation of the Middle East.
Egypt was Singapore's 67th trading partner in 2008 with a total trade of S$623.6 million, a marginal increase of 4.38% from 2007 (S$597.4 million). Exports to Egypt increased marginally by 3.68% from S$497.0 million in 2007 to S$515.28 million in 2008. This amount represents close to 82.63% of the total trade. Imports from Egypt also increased by 8.32% to S$108.32 million in 2008.
