Event Highlights - The event will give special highlights to opportunities in the clean and green sectors in China. China has now become the global leader in terms of solar energy, wind energy, hydropower and CDM projects. In China, there are now hundreds of cities looking at eco-city as a development model, and this presents a huge window of opportunities for our companies that operate in the sustainable development sector. The session will highlight clean and green opportunities across different parts of China – Baoding, Hangzhou, Tianjin, Wuxi and Zhengjian as well as across different sub-sectors such as solar, wind, hydro-power, waste-to-energy, green IT, etc.
Hangzhou-Singapore Eco-Park
Widely reported in the Business Times and Straits Times as well as local Chinese media, the MOU signing for the setting up of the Hangzhou-Singapore Eco-Park (HSEP) was done in Nov 09 as a joint venture between Hangzhou-Qianjiang Economic Development Zone (HQEDZ) and Singapore-based CleanTech Partners Pte Ltd (
www.cleantech-partners.net) which is a consortium of Singapore-based clean technology companies. It is to be built as an eco-industrial development zone, and adds Hangzhou City in China's Zhejiang Province to the international map of innovative green township development. The HSEP utilises clean technology and green strategies for energy generation, water management, waste and by-products exchanges, transportation and green buildings to enhance the competitiveness of businesses.
The special 1 km2 HSEP ( Phase 1 345 Mu ) will house a variety of clean technology companies over a broad range of industries including clean energy (solar, wind. etc), green ICT, water, waste management, public health, manufacturing, advanced materials, industrial process controls, hybrid electric and natural gas vehicles, etc. Flexible development guidelines will characterise the new zone and encourage global investments performance by recognizing the unique needs of different businesses and industries.
