The present Companies Act was enacted in 1967. The last review of the Companies Act was conducted in 1999 by the Company Legislation and Regulatory Framework Committee (CLRFC) and had brought about several changes.
The Steering Committee was appointed on October 2007 to review and rewrite the Companies Act. This comprehensive review will take into account changes in the other jurisdictions, continuing changes that have taken place in the business and investment environment in the past years and look at what changes to the Companies Act are needed to ensure that our laws are internationally competitive and can cater to the business environment of the future.
