Significance of Copenhagen outcomes
Benefits of Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD)
Opportunities in the Clean Sector
Programme Details
Jointly organised by Singapore Business Federation (SBF) and British High Commission, this day-long seminar aims to explore the opportunities, challenges and options surrounding forestry, REDD and the clean sector, while also highlighting potential energy alternatives like waste to energy and biomass energy.
The speakers will come with comprehensive skill sets and in-depth experience in various industries. They will also address issues like potential impact on pulp and paper sector, and businesses with significant exposure in future emissions trading scheme. New entrants will be able to benefit from the talks regarding REDD as a new source of cost-effective credits to defray some of their anticipated costs. REDD-plus can also hold much appeal for general corporate social responsibility due to strong identification retail consumers have for forestry.
This seminar is supported by National Environment Agency (NEA), Singapore Environment Institute (SEI), Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS) and Singapore Timber Association (STA).
Target Audience
It is targeted at government organizations, non-government organisations, academia, and businesses especially paper (logging), shipping, aviation, insurance, banking sectors, law firms, accounting firms and multi-national corporations.
