The primary focus of SS 540:2008 is on business continuity management (BCM) and recovery of critical business operations. This standard is applicable to all organizations regardless of size, it also provides the framework for organizations to analyse threats such as flu pandemic and implement strategies, processes and procedures to address these concerns. The "Flu Pandemic Business Continuity Guide - Guidance for Verifiers" aims to provide a generic BCM framework (adapted from SS 540) to verify an organisation's flu pandemic preparedness for business continuity.
The workshop will cover a brief introduction to SS 540; components of flu pandemic preparedness for business continuity (BC programme, Risk assessment & Business Impact Analysis, development & implementation of BC plan, awareness & BC mindset, exercise & maintenance) and the use of the Checklist.
The speaker, Mr Ong Liong Chuan, Business Continuity Management Technical Committee, Singapore Standardisation Program, will also share Singapore Power's experience in flu pandemic preparedness. The Flu Pandemic Business Continuity Programme aims at bringing companies a step closer towards being BCM certified and to boost their ability to weather adversities posed by future flu pandemics.
