The Singapore Business Federation (SBF) and The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Singapore present the Uzbekistan-Singapore Business Forum 2009. It is organised in conjunction with the visit of H.E. Mr. Shavkat Tulyaganov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade of Uzbekistan and his esteemed delegation of senior government officials and elite businessmen. The objective of this event is to update you the latest developments, projects and opportunities in Uzbekistan and to facilitate interactions between Singapore businesses and Uzbek businessmen and government officials.
Country Highlights
The Republic of Uzbekistan is the largest country in the Central Asia region and it occupies a strategic geographical and geopolitical position endowed with plenty of natural and human resources. Within that region, it is also a leading industrial country where the economy has grown by 45% in the last 6 years. Uzbekistan has one of the highest reserves in minerals such as gold, uranium, copper, natural gas and phosphorite. Globally, it was ranked 4th, 7th and 8th in gold, copper and uranium reserves respectively. It is also a leading nation in terms of gold and uranium mining. Rich deposits of precious, non-ferrous and rare metals and oil, natural and condensed gas were open up to encourage more mineral exploration activities. In recent decades, there were developments in the automobile, agricultural machinery, biotechnology, pharmaceutical industry, ICT, and textile industries.
