Renewable energy is generated from natural resources which can be naturally replenished. In 2006, it accounts for 18% of global final energy consumption, with 13% coming from traditional biomass and hydroelectricity providing 3%. The market for green and renewable energy is still expanding and the total volume has doubled in the last two years.
