With the increased interest that companies have shown in the Chinese market over the last few years, employment law and individual income tax information is extremely important to firms setting up or increasing the size of their organization in China. The long-awaited Implementing Regulations for the Employment Contract Law was finally promulgated by the State Council (as Decree No. 535) on 18 September 2008.

SBF is proud to present the Workshop on China Employment Law & Individual Income Tax which has been designed to equip participants with practical application of the new law, an overall view on the key aspects of Individual Income Tax law and how to comply with the complex IIT regulatory obligations.

    Isabelle Wan is the leader of the TransAsia employment law practice and co-leader of the intellectual property practice. She has 16 years' experience advising clients on direct investments in China. Isabelle enjoys a pre-eminent reputation for her expertise in PRC employment law, her practice covers: employment contracts, employee handbooks, non-competition and confidentiality agreements, social security and welfare benefits, termination and retrenchment, stock options, expatriate employment and labor dispute resolution (mediation, arbitration and litigation).

    Carl Poon is the PRC Tax Director with Lehman Brown. He has solid practical experience in PRC tax and business advisory services, in particular, the South China. Carl's service areas cover PRC corporate and individual income taxes, value-added tax, customs duty, foreign exchange, urban real estate tax, land appreciation tax etc. Carl has served as an editorial member of a tax journal "China Tax Intelligence" published by CCH. He has also served as a PRC Tax Advisor for Hong Kong Trade Development Council in providing PRC tax consultation to Hong Kong SMEs.
