The Singapore Business Federation (SBF), together with the Singapore Compact for CSR and the Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF) is pleased to jointly organise a briefing on the ISO 26000 Draft to members.

With the world becoming more globalized, the need for organizations in both public and private sectors to behave in a socially responsible way is becoming a requirement of society. There is a growing need for tools to help companies to define and address what CSR means and how to implement it throughout their organizations. Singapore will see an increased need for social responsibility as international pressure sets in. To operate effectively in a highly globalised world today, Singapore companies have to be compliant to international norms.

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) will be developing an international guidance standard for social responsibility. The standards will be known as ISO 26000 and are expected to be published in 2010. ISO 26000 is voluntary (not a certification standard) and seeks to encourage voluntary commitment to social responsibility among organizations. The standard will assist organizations to better understand social responsibility and to address their social responsibilities by providing practical guidance to achieve results and improvement.

SBF members are encouraged to attend this briefing!
