The Riau Islands of Bintan and Batam are just a stone's throw from Singapore. Many companies have benefited from the Singapore-Riau Connection and the cost competitive business advantages of Bintan and Batam. It has entrenched global players including Philips, Thomson, Siemens, Seagate, Nidec, Venture and others including business giants from the US, Japan and EU.

Pro-business environment
Business facilities in the Riau Islands are especially conducive for manufacturing. Modern infrastructure amenities and self-sufficient services such as utilities (water & electricity), waste disposal and telecommunications systems are in place to ensure reliable and continuous services, essential for profitable business operations in Bintan and Batam.

Competitive costs
Operating a factory in Bintan or Batam is as convenient as in Johor, without the worries of labor shortages and rising costs. Operating factories in China or Vietnam will pose supply, logistical and management problems while a Bintan or Batam facility will greatly ease such issues due to their very close proximity to Singapore.

With Bintan Island now declared as a Free Trade Zone, Bintan Industrial Estate (BIE) is well poised to be the only Free Trade Zone (FTZ) catered for export-oriented manufacturers in KEPRI (Riau Island Province).
