Suzhou has transformed from a historical city of culture into one of China’s most vibrant industrial hub since China’s economic reform began. Moving into the future, Suzhou aims to further integrate the city’s cultural heritage and economic development with new innovations. Suzhou of the future will strive to become China’s national model for scientific urban development.
Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) is the flagship cooperation project between the governments of China and Singapore. As an epitome of China’s successful reform and opening-up, SIP has successfully adapted the experience of Singapore and other developed nations, integrating it with its own unique characteristics. Apart from being a pilot area for key national policy in the areas of customs supervision, bonded logistics, service outsourcing and green-tech industries, SIP is also ‘China’s most favorable industrial park for investment’ in the eyes of multi-national companies. Today, the modern, internationalized and garden-like SIP has emerged as one of the most competitive high-tech industrial zones in China and Asia.
This year, China and Singapore celebrate 20 years of close bilateral relations. In July 2010, the Party Secretary of Suzhou, Mr. Jiang Hong Kun will lead a delegation to Singapore to reinforce the cooperation between both governments and to participate in a symposium on The Transition of Suzhou and Suzhou Industrial Park. Top government leaders from the Municipality of Suzhou and the Suzhou Industrial Park Administrative Committee (SIPAC) will be at the Symposium to provide valuable insights.
