India's economy has been expanding despite the world economic downturn. It continues to attract foreign direct investment. Although Indian market looks attractive, there are still many issues to overcome when venturing into it. Some issues include lack of suitable sites for industrial developments, adequate logistics infrastructure and so on.

One of the ways to reduce such business risks is to form partnerships. More Japanese companies have plans to enter into Indian markets. And at the same time, having the advantage on the market knowledge and familiarity in India, Singapore companies are keen to tie up with foreign companies. Under the circumstances, JETRO, IE Singapore and CII jointly set up the Task Force on Investment and Business Promotion Partnership of Japan-Singapore-India last summer to facilitate collaboration between Japanese and Singapore companies doing business in India. Such collaborations build on the complementary strengths and know-how to reduce business risks to result in a win-win situation for all.

The seminar will focus on the "Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC)" project, which is initiated by the governments of India and Japan. The DMIC consists of 6 States; Uttar Pradeshi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. It will also cover the progress on development projects in Chennai, Tamil Nadu State, one of the biggest cities in the southern India, which gathers lots of attention from foreign companies.
