Venue : Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore

About SIEW

Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) is a platform for international and regional policy makers, industry players, and academics, to discuss pertinent energy issues and strategies affecting the world today.

Taking place from 16 - 20 November, SIEW 2009 builds on the theme ‘Clean Energy: Sustainable Solutions for Urban Cities’ to bring together leading figures in the energy industry for a week of high-level discussions on key issues around energy security, sustainability, financing and innovation.

With a host of top speakers, SIEW 2009 enables delegates to discover best practices, understand trends and connect with industry leaders defining the energy business.
  • Energy Market Authority (EMA)

Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA) was formed in 2001 as a statutory board of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, with the aim of promoting high competitiveness and reliability in addition to ensuring the security and stability of the industry.

  • Energy Studies Institute (ESI)

The Energy Studies Institute (ESI) is an independent research body established within the National University of Singapore (NUS). The institute conducts research and analyses, highly focused on Energy Economics, Energy Security and the Environment, with the aim of understanding local, regional and global energy issues.
SIEW 2009 builds on the strong momentum established at the inaugural International Energy Week in 2008.

This year’s Singapore International Energy Week boasts a refreshed identity, intended to exemplify SIEW as a collaborative event focused on sustainable solutions for the future, and a logo that represents different sources of energy and our understanding of them.

Defining the energy sector now and in the future

As one of the world’s leading oil-trading and refining centres, Singapore takes the business of energy seriously and has identified the clean energy industry as a strategic growth area for its economy.

Recognising our stake in the energy landscape of the future, Singapore is looking to work with industry players as they shape global and regional energy agendas. One of the key vehicles for this will be the Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) which will bring together luminaries from the sector to address contemporary energy issues from sustainability to security to innovation and investment.

Jointly organized by Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA) and the Energy Studies Institute (ESI), SIEW features a comprehensive schedule of conferences, exhibitions and networking sessions, all designed to drive meaningful discussions about present energy concerns.
