1. Singapore suffered our first victim of terrorism in the recent Mumbai incident. It serves as a stark reminder that Singapore has been, and remains, a target of terrorists and the possibility of such incidents occurring in our home is very real.
2 However, combating terrorism involves multiple fronts and needs to be a sustained effort. This threat cannot be effectively dealt with without the full support and
partnership from the business community.
3 The briefing serves to engage the business community as part of the country's united effort to fight terrorism and effectively respond to these incidents. It will be held at the Rock Auditorium, Suntec City Mall, Fri, 27 Feb 09, at 2.00 pm. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Mr Wong Kan Seng will grace the event as the Guest-of-Honour.
4 The security briefing comprises three key segments. The first segment will focus on the key insights on the Mumbai incident; specifically who were the terrorists targeting and how they did it. The second segment will be delivered by the Mumbai study team from the Singapore Police Force.
