The Singapore Business Federation (SBF) and the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) will be co-organizing a Business Mission to Latin America from 9-17 November 2011. The delegation will be visiting the bustling capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires and the vibrant economic centre of Brazil, Sao Paulo.
Mission Objectives
To explore business and investment opportunities in Argentina and Brazil and to facilitate networking and establishment of linkages with Argentinean and Brazilian companies.
Who Should Participate
Singapore businesses which are keen to venture into Latin America should participate in this business mission to establish contact with Latin America companies, Chambers, Industries and Government Agencies. Market surveys and site visits will enable participants to have good insights on market conditions, while business-matching and networking sessions will provide a platform to explore existing commercial opportunities. Companies from the following sectors are strongly encouraged to capitalize on this unique opportunity to meet with potential partners: • Services • Agriculture • Manufacturing • ICT • Aviation • Telecommunications • Energy • Chemicals • Automotive • Retail and many others!
Buenos Aires
As the 27th largest economy in the world, Argentina‘s economy expanded by 7.5% in 2010 to total US$370 billion. With sustained growth since 2001, Argentina has overseen private sector developments and an increasingly open and friendly environment for foreign businesses and partners.
Home to 13 million people, Buenos Aires is the third largest metropolitan area in all of Latin America. It is also the country’s primary industrial and financial centre, spearheading the country’s economic and commercial performance.
With its modern commercial infrastructure, diversified industrial base and well-educated workforce, Buenos Aires provides a strong platform for Singapore businesses to explore and tap on existing opportunities.
Sao Paulo
In 2010, Brazil saw its GDP grow 7.5% to total US$2.1 trillion, continuing its ascent to become the 7th largest economy in the world. Astute economic policies and progressive sectoral developments have consolidated Brazil’s position as one of the most vibrant and booming markets across the globe.
With close to 20 million people, Sao Paulo is the second largest metropolitan area in Latin America and home to a burgeoning middle class. In addition, Sao Paulo is Brazil’s financial and commercial centre, influencing and driving the nation’s economy.
With Sao Paulo right in the midst of preparations for the upcoming 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games, the city is undergoing a new phase of modernization and this brings forth diverse opportunities for Singapore businesses.
