The Mission
SBF, with the support of IES, Singbridge and SMa, is organizing a business mission to Guangzhou and Foshan from 27 June to 1 July 2011, in conjunction with the official visit by Transport Minister and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Lui Tuck Yew. This mission also coincides with the 3rd Meeting of Singapore-Guangdong Collaboration Council (SGCC) co-chaired by Mr Lui and Guangdong Vice-Governor Zhao Yufang. Briefings by local government officials, site visits to Guangzhou Knowledge City (GKC), Foshan and other business programmes will be specially arranged for this business mission.
Guangzhou Knowledge City (GKC)
The Sino-Singapore GKC is a 50:50 joint venture project between the Guangdong Development District and Singbridge International (a wholly-owned company of Temasek Holdings). The project is located on an attractive green-field site in the Luogang District in Guangzhou and will be well-served by an efficient transportation network of expressways, MRT and fast-speed train. Covering a total land area of 123 km˛, the project will be developed on an area of 60km˛ surrounded by vast green areas that occupy the remaining 60 km˛. Guangzhou, which has the highest GDP among all provinces and municipalities in China, is also China’s largest industrial output and domestic retail market. GKC will offer a vibrant and eco live, work, play place for talents, skilled manpower and high-value and knowledge-based industries such as IT, bio-technology, energy & environmental protection, advance manufacturing, R & D, creative, education & training and health & wellness.
Foshan
Following Shenzhen and Guangzhou, Foshan is the third largest manufacturing base in the Pearl River Delta. Its current economic strength lies in privates firms and Township and Village Enterprises in Shunde and Nanhai. Key industries in Foshan include household electrical appliance and tool manufacturing, furniture, non-metal ore and manufacturing, electronics and communications, stainless steel products, plastic products and ceramics. Foshan aims to become a manufacturing giant and the third largest city in Guangdong, and it has pledged to make large-scale investment in the construction of the infrastructure such as transportation and energy. In 2010, Foshan GDP stood at RMB 565.1 billion.

GKC Partners Programme^^
Eligible companies can apply to Singbridge for the GKC Partners for up to 50% grant for travel and accommodation costs+ for up to 1 man-trip per participating company. Pls indicate your interest to tap on this program upon registration for the Business Mission with SBF. Applicants enjoying the grant under GKC Partners will not be eligible to apply for DTD. + Approved travel and accommodation refers to (i) economy class airfare (ii) standard hotel room rates, incurred for travel related to GKC Project for approved cities on a reimbursement basis, subject to IE Singapore’s approval and submission of invoices of (i) and (ii) 14 working days post-trip. ^^Other Terms & Conditions apply.

- Cheque should be made payable to “Singapore Business Federation”. Please indicate the Ref No., company name, SBF membership no. and participant’s name at the back of the cheque.
