About the Russian Federation
As the
largest country in the world and the
9th most populous nation with 142 million people, Russia is well-known for having the
world’s largest reserves of mineral and energy, and also the
5th biggest billionaire market. The country’s excellent turn-around from the 1998 ‘Ruble Crisis’ and the recent financial crisis demonstrates the country’s commitment in pursuing economic reform and maintaining macroeconomic stability.
Russia’s
2009 GDP of USD2.1 trillion ranks as the 9th highest in the world. The large stimulus package and gradual recovery of oil prices have contributed to uplift the economy out of recession in 2H2009 and likely to further return a modest growth of 3-4% in 2010, which bode well for businesses.
Recent establishment of a high-level Inter-Governmental Commission between Russia and Singapore seeks to strengthen the bilateral ties between the two countries and boost both political and economical engagements and exchanges. Businesses from both countries are encouraged to tap on the opportune platform to drive their Russian-Singapore business growth.
