SBF is organizing a 2nd business visit to Iskandar Malaysia (IM) due to the overwhelming response for the 1st SBF business mission to Iskandar Malaysia on 16th June 2010, with 88 participants (which exceeded our planned target size of 39 participants).

Iskandar Malaysia covers 2,217 square km. of South Johor and is strategically positioned at the crossroads of East-West trade routes. Located just across the Causeway, the development of Iskandar Malaysia will have represented a potentially symbiotic opportunity for Singaporean investors. Iskandar Malaysia is building on its rich plantation and manufacturing hinterland and moving into other high-growth areas, including the services sector. Investment is supported by strong infrastructure support and a range of attractive fiscal incentives from the Government. This has helped Iskandar Malaysia to attract an influx of foreign investment as investors look to benefit from its high growth potential. Since its launch in 2006, Iskandar Malaysia has attracted cumulative investment commitments amounting to RM 55.5 billion from both private and public sectors. This is indicative of Iskandar Malaysia’s positive growth potential for Singapore investors.

This mission will focus on achieving the following objectives for its participants:

Identify new business – trade, project, consultancy & investment opportunities in Iskandar Malaysia

Network with key government agencies and business associations

Examine first-hand the business and market conditions in Iskandar Malaysia through arranged site visits

Obtain the latest updates in Malaysia’s economic & investment policies especially those pertaining to projects in       Iskandar Malaysia.
