The Mission
The Singapore Business Federation (SBF) jointly with the Singapore Manufacturers’ Federation (SMa), with the support of IE Singapore, Association of Small & Medium Enterprises (ASME) and China Zhejiang Center (Singapore), is organizing a Business Mission to Zhejiang (Hangzhou, Ningbo and Zhoushan) and 2010 World Expo in Shanghai from 1 to 8 August 2010. The main purpose of the mission is to explore many business opportunities for Singapore companies in Zhejiang Province. Briefings by local government officials, business networking and matching sessions, site visits to local companies and other business programmes will be specially arranged for you.
Zhejiang - One of the Most Developed Provinces in China
Zhejiang Province is traditionally known as the "Land of Fish and Rice", famous for its rice, fishery, tea and silk. Ningbo, Wenzhou and Zhoushan are important commercial ports. Its manufacturing is centered upon electromechanical, textiles, construction materials, food and chemical. It created its own development model, dubbed the "Zhejiang model", which is based on prioritizing and encouraging entrepreneurship, an emphasis on small businesses responsive to the whims of the market, large public investments into infrastructure, and the production of low cost goods in bulk for both domestic consumption and export. It has become one of the most marketised and richest provinces in China, and the "Zhejiang spirit" has become something of a legend within China.
The 2010 World Expo
The World Expo is a large-scale, global and non-commercial exposition that aims to promote the exchange of ideas and development of the world's economy, culture, science and technology. At the same time, it allows nations to publicise and showcase their achievements as well as to improve international relationships.
Themed "Better City, Better Life", World Expo 2010 Shanghai China will centre on innovation and interaction, exploring the full potential of urban life in the 21st century. More than 180 countries and 34 international organisations will participate in World Expo 2010, with approximately 70 million visitors expected over a six-month period.
