A 4D/3N Business Mission to Lao PDR (Vientiane) will be jointly organized by the Singapore Business Federation ASEAN Business Group, International Enterprise Singapore & Container Depot Association (Singapore). This mission will be led by the Container Depot Association (Singapore).
According to the WTO, Lao PDR has been the 2nd fastest growing country in ASEAN over the last 4 years, clocking an annual average GDP growth rate of 7.2%, behind only Vietnam. It is expected to continue growing at an average rate of 7.4% over the next 2 years. In a process of reform starting from 1989 and an ASEAN member since 1997, Lao PDR is increasingly becoming an attractive economy, adopting an open door policy for foreign investors. Lao PDR offers an abundance of land, energy and natural resources within a climate of political stability. In particular, economic growth has been driven by the agro-commodities, mining, hydropower, and the textiles sector. Singapore is Lao PDR’s 10th largest investor between 2000 and 2008, with total trade between the 2 countries amounting to S$37.1 million in 2008.
This mission will focus on achieving the following objectives for its participants:
- Identify new business and investment opportunities in Lao PDR – especially in trading, logistics, and agriculture.
- Network with key government agencies & local business leaders and business associations, to understand the latest updates in Lao PDR’s economic & investment climate & policies.
- Examine first-hand the actual business and market conditions in Lao PDR through expert speakers, networking sessions and industry site visits.
- Gain real-life insights on doing business in Lao PDR from the Singaporean business community operating in Lao PDR.
Don't miss this opportunity! Join us in this business mission to identify business and investment possibilities in Lao PDR for your company!
